Shower - Then and Now

We have had some shower issues in the master bath.  We built our house two and half years ago and we have had a warranty issue with our shower that has taken the builder forever to get around to fixing.

When they finally got around to tearing out the part of the shower that needed repairing, we found a water leak.
Water Damage
We now believe that the water leak was from the faulty installation of the shower.  Of course, the tile we used is no longer available, so they had to tear out the entire shower and I had to go pick out new tile.  This whole process has been going on for almost a month.  A MONTH that I haven't been able to use my shower.  I have become very good at washing my hair in the bath tub.  I am very thankful to have a large garden tub with the perfect faucet for washing hair.

Picking out new tile is difficult for me.  There are so many choices available!  I do not have a natural ability to decorate so I need to see something and copy it.  I finally settled on the Rialto Beige collection from Lowes.  I love the bronze inserts in the border tiles.

Now we wait on the tiles to be grouted (I hope I picked the right color grout!) and then for the shower doors to be replaced.  I am hoping that by the end of the week, I will have my shower back!

First Blog Post!

I have wanted to start a blog for several years. I always get hung up on trying to make everything perfect, get lost in the details then just give up. This time, I am going to just jump right in and perfect things as I go.

Why the name Suburban Soccer Family? Yes, we do live in suburbia and we are a family that is heavily into soccer for our kids. However, the Suburban part of the name refers to my car, my Suburban that feels like home. I spend a crazy amount of time in my Suburban, carting around the four kids that still live at home to all of their various activities including some insane mileage to and from soccer events. My husband just got a brand new car and I thought I would be jealous. Nope. I drove it a few times and it just isn't "home". My Suburban is stocked. Need water? I always have a case or two in the back. Need a napkin, there has to be at least one somewhere. Need a hair tie, headband, brush? Dig around, you will find something.

The soccer part of the name? All five of my kids have played soccer at various levels. Some play recreational only, some play/have played competitive/club/select soccer. Two of the kids also referee soccer games. This makes for some interesting Saturday and Sunday schedules.

Welcome to our crazy life!
